It is always heartbreaking for a parent to watch their child struggle with something. Parents are well-equipped to handle most situations, but may feel helpless if their teen is experiencing problems with alcohol. While the treatment for alcohol and drug abuse is very similar, alcohol can often be a tough thing to combat. Legal in the U.S. and socially accepted, drinking can be an integral part of socialization, even as a teenager. Some teens can get caught in the middle, without being able to find their way out. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we offer a long term alcohol rehab program in Washington that can help good kids who are simply making bad decisions with alcohol.
While in our intensive program, our students will learn about accountability and responsibility and will learn how to be a part of a team. They will learn better social interactions with their peers and their elders without the use of alcohol or drugs, and will also help others and volunteer in the community. Our kids are expected to do daily chores and take part in journal-writing.
We combine many different types of therapies which contributes to our success rate. While we do incorporate traditional therapy such as individual counseling and group therapy in our programs, we also include unique experiences such as equine therapy, wilderness therapy, and rites of passage therapy. We have found that getting back to nature is a great way for troubled teens to rediscover their worth, and their life.
