Obesity Health and Wellness Camp for Teens in the NW

Obesity Health and Wellness Camp for Teens in the NW

Teens today have a hard enough time growing up and learning how to cope and be an adult, without adding more problems onto their plate. Bullying can be exceptionally tough on kids, and when it is a result of being overweight, teens may feel embarrassed, and may not even know how to reach out for help. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we want teens to learn how to make healthier choices. With our obesity health and wellness camp for teens in the NW, we have devised a plan of action so that teens learn how to eat better and exercise better, and in turn living a happier and healthier life.

Here at our camp, teens will learn how to count calories and meal plan, and will learn how to make better choices overall. These are habits that teens will be able to take home with them long after they have been discharged from our program. Our teens also eat a completely holistic diet while they are here. While it may take a bit of getting used to, we have found it extremely effective.

Exercise is also a big part of our programs, and teens will take part in daily exercise such as wilderness treks and hiking. Again, this type of exercise may take a bit of getting used to, but we try to show teens that exercise can be fun and rewarding.

Teens will also meet with a professional counselor on a regular basis, and take part in individual counseling and group therapy. We want to get to the root of obesity, and also tackle any other mental health issues.
