It is always painful for parents and loved ones see a teenager fall victim to drug addiction. Parents may feel helpless, as if they have nowhere to turn. Often embarrassed to ask for help from friends and family, parents may turn to school counselors or weekly therapists, but that is not always a great fit for every child. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we implement different types of therapy into our long term drug rehab program in Washington to help make a difference in a teenager’s life. With the combination therapies we offer, our high success rate proves that troubled teens can recover from alcohol and drug addiction.
We do have conventional therapy in our long-term programs, such as individual therapy and group therapy with peers. We also include equine therapy, rites of passage therapy, and wilderness therapy into our programs so that teens can experience nature like never before, and rediscover their worth. We also teach our students about accountability and responsibility. Troubled teens will also learn how to be a team player, and will look for gainful employment in the community after some time has been spent volunteering. Chores and social interaction are requirements.
Teens are under a lot of stress, and one of the main problems is their lack of good coping skills, as they simply do not have the life experience that adults do. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we like to add some more tools to their toolbox, so to speak.
