Wilderness Therapy Treatment for Drugs and Substance Abuse in the NW

Wilderness Therapy Treatment for Drugs and Substance Abuse in the NW

It is never an easy thing for a parent to watch their child go through serious life events. When a teen is struggling with alcohol or drugs, parents may not know what to do, and may even feel embarrassed or helpless. Weekly therapy and school guidance counselors are a great start, and do work for some teens. Some teens need a deeper intervention, such as a long-term program. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we offer wilderness therapy for drugs and substance abuse in the NW to not only get kids off of drugs and alcohol, but teach them life skills so that they may go on to lead a successful, happy, and sober life.

We do offer regular therapy here at our program, such as group and individual therapies, but we also offer a unique experience with some of our other therapies, such as equine therapy, rites of passage therapy, and wilderness therapy.  Here, teens will really get back to nature and participate in journal writing and introspection exercises. Teens will also learn camping and survival skills as they hike the Olympic Mountains near our facility. No Internet or cell phone usage is allowed here, and we really get back to basics.

Rites of Passage NW is also a working farm, and our teens will learn how to garden, farm, and cultivate their own food. Many of our meals here are prepared with food from our garden. Teens will also learn how to take care of the many animals on our farm, including our alpacas. Teens are also required to either volunteer, gain employment, or attend school during the latter phases of our program.
