Wilderness Therapy Treatment for Anxiety in the NW

Wilderness Therapy Treatment for Anxiety in the NW

Anxiety is invisible, yet can be crippling to the people that suffer from it. For teens with inadequate coping mechanisms and life skills, anxiety may lead them to a life of avoidance, not living life to the fullest. Teens that suffer from panic attacks or other symptoms of anxiety may feel embarrassed or ashamed, afraid to speak to professionals or even their families. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we can help. We offer wilderness therapy treatment for anxiety in the NW that not only helps teens cope, but can teach them new habits and new ways of thinking so that they can go on to life a normal, successful life.

Wilderness Therapy Treatment for Anxiety in the NW

Here at Rites of Passage NW we do have our teens participate in conventional therapy, such as group and individual therapy. A large focus is on cognitive behavioral therapy, but we also offer more intense therapy for those teens that may struggle with drugs and alcohol, or have co-occurring disorders. Our emphasis here is not on medication, as for many that is simple an anxiety band-aid that leads to bigger problems later on in life.

We also offer unique experiences and therapies, such as equine therapy, rites of passage therapy, and wilderness therapy. Our teens go hiking and trekking in the Olympic Mountains, and with no cell phones or Internet allowed here, they can really get back to basics.

Rites of Passage NW is also a working ranch, so our teens learn how to tend the farm, garden, cultivate, and even take care of animals. Most of our diet also consists of food we grow here.
