Wilderness Therapy for Depression in Washington

Wilderness Therapy for Depression in Washington

Teens are under a lot of stress, and may have trouble coping. This type of stress manifests itself differently in different people – for some teens, it can lead to depression. Causes of depression are not completely known, but other contributing factors could include bullying at school, a poor self-image – the list goes on. Parents may feel helpless when their teen is battling depression, but here at Rites of Passage NW, we are here to help. We offer wilderness therapy for depression in Washington for our teens, to help them get through the rough spots and come out the other side.

Wilderness Therapy for Depression in Washington

Rites of Passage NW is a fully-accredited facility, offering conventional therapies such as dally and individual therapy on a daily basis. We also offer our teens a unique experience by having them participate in equine therapy, wilderness therapy, and rites of passage therapy. Teens will also learn camp survival skills, and trek and hike through the nearby Olympic Mountains.

There are no cell phones allowed at Rites of Passage NW, and there is no Internet. We truly get back to basics here. We are also a functional ranch, and teens will learn how to live off of the land, by gardening, cultivating, and cooking their own food. They will also learn how to take care of the many animals on our ranch. During their long-term stay, teens are expected to volunteer locally, and learn how to help others. Introspection and journal-writing are also important parts of therapy.
