Wilderness Therapy for Depression in North America – USA

Wilderness Therapy for Depression in North America – USA

All teens go through tough times, and some teens simply pass through these rough spots and come out the other side. Other teens may experiment with alcohol and drugs, only to realize that that is a dead-end path. Some teens may struggle with serious major depression, however, and this is something that should not be ignored. Parents and family members may not know where to turn to get their teen help. Many parents will try the family doctor for some medication, or weekly therapy to help their teen along. For some teens, that is not enough, and they require a more serious intervention. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we offer wilderness therapy for depression in North America – USA to help teens recover from depression and get back to living a normal life.

Here at Rites of Passage NW, we are a fully functioning ranch. Our teens will learn how to garden and farm, as well as cultivate and cook their own food. Teens will also learn how to take care of the many animals we have here, as a part of therapy. There are no cell phones allowed in Rites of Passage NW, and there is no Internet. We truly get back to basics here.

Therapy is also a large part of our program. In addition to daily sessions of individual and group therapy, we also offer rites of passage therapy, equine therapy, and wilderness therapy to help teens become one with nature, and rediscover themselves and their worth. In addition to therapies, teens in the long-term programs are expected to either volunteer or work in the community, or attend online school.
