There is no wrong way for someone to grieve, however healthy grieving can help anyone to move on in a positive manner.
Grief is an individual’s natural method of responding to loss. Typically the more significant or intense a loss is, the more intense the individual will suffer from grief. There are a number of different sources of grief, including the loss of a loved one, the ending of a significant relationship, the ending of a former lifestyle, trauma or an inability to achieve a desired personal goal.
However, it is also important to note that minor losses can also result in grief. For instance, a job or school change, a move away from home or a change one’s social relationships can lead to grief. At Rites of Passage NW Wilderness Therapy, we understand that even minor changes can affect a student’s life, so we make it our goal to help them understand their grief, learn how to cope and guide them down a healthy path.
