Summer Weight Loss Camp for Teens in the NW

Summer Weight Loss Camp for Teens in the NW

Losing weight can be hard for anyone, but when you’re a teenager, it can be tough to know where to start. Starting a new diet and exercise regimen can seem like climbing a mountain. A teen may even be bullied at school because of their weight, and embarrassed to ask for help, even from their parents. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we have a summer weight loss camp for teens in the NW to help teens lose the weight, and keep it off, even after their discharge from the program.

Summer Weight Loss Camp for Teens in the NW

Unlike a traditional “fat camp,” we focus on diet, exercise, and therapy in our program. Firstly, our teens eat a completely holistic diet while in our program. It may take some getting used to, but our teens love the end result of losing weight and feeling better.

Exercise is also a major component in our program. Instead of the boring and routine gym trip several times a week, we introduce overweight teens to wilderness treks and hiking adventures, so that they can discover that exercise is fun. Teens will learn how to get in shape in a group, and to build and break down a camp.

Individual and group therapy is also a large part of our program, as we want to treat co-occurring disorders such as anxiety and depression in our teens. We also want to get to the root of what causes weight gain and obesity in the first place.
