Summer Weight Loss Camp for Kids in the NW

Summer Weight Loss Camp for Kids in the NW

Being a teenager can be hard enough, but when a teen is dealing with being overweight or with obesity, life can be very tough. Overweight teens may feel pressure from family and friends to lose weight, or they may experience bullying in school or in other areas of life. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we have a summer weight loss camp for kids in the NW that not only helps overweight teens get the weight off, but keep it off, long after they have been discharged from our program.

Summer Weight Loss Camp for Kids in the NW

Here at Rites of Passage NW, we are not a traditional “fat camp.” We offer a completely holistic diet to our teens, with only natural foods. We do teach that healthy food can taste delicious, and we teach teens how to better prepare and plan their meals. We also teach calorie counting to help them well after they leave our camp.

Exercise is also a large part of our weight loss camp, and all of our exercise takes place in nature. Whether it be hiking or swimming, or learning survival skills, we teach that exercise can be fun, and it can be a group activity. Teens can easily be bored by getting on the treadmill on the gym, so we offer a unique experience out in the wilderness.

We also integrate therapy into our camp, and teens will participate in both individual and group sessions. We feel that we must get to the root of what causes the obesity, in order to progress and recover. We also help teens who are struggling with issues such as depression and anxiety.
