Programs for Troubled Young Adults in Washington

When a child is ill, the immediate choice is to take them to a doctor or caregiver so that they can receive treatment and get better as soon as possible. When a child or teenager is experiencing emotional problems ,often the answers are not as clear. Parents may turn to school counselors or to once-a-week therapists to help solve the problem, but schools are often too busy to help individual students with deep problems, and weekly therapy may not work. Sometimes a child or teenager needs something more to help them get through the rough spots. At Rites of Passage NW, we have many different types of programs for troubled young adults in Washington to help teenagers and adolescents get through the rough patches and come out feeling even better than before.

Problems that a teenager may be dealing with include substance abuse, depression, anger, problems socializing, and even suicidal thoughts. We have programs that fit every teenager’s specific needs, so that they can be on the road to recovery. We do have therapy such as group therapy and individual therapy, but also rites of passage and wilderness therapy, so our students can be one on one with nature like never before.

Just imagine the stress that an adults goes through. A child or teenager has much of the same stress, but with a complete lack of adult coping mechanisms and skills. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we try to teach these important skills so that children can have more tools in their toolbox, so to speak.
