It is never easy for a parent to watch their child go through hard times. Problems such as substance abuse, anger, depression, and anxiety are so prevalent in the country’s adult culture, and as much in children and youth. Parents may not know where to turn when their child is experiencing problems. They may turn to school guidance counselors and weekly therapy sessions, but those are not always the answer. Sometimes a troubled teen needs a stronger intervention to get back on track. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we have many different programs for troubled young adults in North America – USA that can help any teen out of a potentially bad or dangerous situation.
We offer many non-traditional and unconventional therapies that we have found help troubled teens, through our wilderness camps. Teens will experience equine therapy, rites of passage therapy, and wilderness therapy, to have a one with nature experience like they have never had. We do combine traditional therapy as well, with group and individual therapy sessions and cognitive behavioral therapy. We teach teens about accountability and responsibility, prepare them for gainful employment, and show them how to interact well with others.
Children and teenagers can be under a lot of stress, way beyond peer pressure. A lot of their stress may come from inside, with others around them not knowing how to help them get through difficult times. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we teach coping mechanisms, and teach adolescents how to add some more tools to their toolbox.
