As an alternative to a traditional fat camp, the focus of a camp should not only be on the loss of weight but the education and importance of complete health and wellness. Following an evaluation with certified therapists and medical staff, a treatment plan is developed. Individual partake in quiet hiking to reflect on the potential long term health, social and professional effects of obesity. Students will understand, they are responsible for themselves, their actions and behaviors.
A complete foods program will show students how to find and prepare delicious, nutritious, healthy, holistic foods. They will understand it isn't just how much is eaten, it's what is eaten that can make a difference. Wilderness treks and adventures find students overcoming challenges and obstacles while being responsible for their own food, shelter, water and navigation. Daily meetings with certified counselors and therapists will address any possible emotional concerns students may be experiencing. The loss of weight experienced by all participants will be replaced with the gain of self-respect, self-esteem, self-confidence and self-reliance.
