Obesity Health and Wellness Camp for Kids in Washington

Being a teenager in modern times is not easy. Being an overweight teenager in this day and age can be exceedingly hard. Obese and overweight teens may have to deal with bullies. They may keep a lot of pain bottled up inside, and may feel embarrassed. They may not know where to turn for help. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we have an obesity health and wellness camp for kids in Washington that teaches teens how to live healthier and better. We help overweight teens not only get the weight off, but keep it off long after they leave our program.

We have several different facets to our camp, and we are not just a traditional “fat camp.” First, we concentrate on what is going on, on the inside. We believe that to get to the root of obesity, you have to target the underlying problems. Our teens will take part in both group and individual therapy during their stay here, to battle obesity, anxiety, depression, and any other problems that they may be dealing with.

Of course, we also focus on diet and exercise. Teens will survive on our completely holistic diet while here at the camp. While it does take some getting used to, we teach that healthy food can taste good. Teens will also learn how to calorie count, meal plan, and other tips for success.

Exercise is a big portion of our program. We are unique because we offer outdoor exercise, such as swimming, hiking, and survival skills, which is a big contrast to the boring, mundane gym. Our kids learn that exercising can be both fun and rewarding.
