Obesity Health and Wellness Camp for Kids in the NW

Obesity Health and Wellness Camp for Kids in the NW

Being a teenager in this day and age can be hard, especially for an overweight teen. Teens who are overweight may also be struggling with anxiety, depression, or other issues, which can make day to day life extremely tough. Teens may not know where to turn for help. It can tough to begin a diet and exercise regimen or weight loss program. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we have an obesity health and wellness camp for kids in the NW that teaches healthier habits, and will help teens get the weight off, and keep it off, long after they leave our program.

Here at Rites of Passage NW, our teens eat a completely holistic diet of whole foods. This may take some getting used to for teens, but they love the results after several weeks of eating healthier food. We do teach that healthy food can taste great. We teach food preparation, calorie counting, and meal planning.

Exercise is also a big part of our program. Instead of taking teens to the gym to run on a treadmill, we explore the great outdoors. Being at one with nature while exercising can be enthralling. Teens go on hiking and adventure treks, and learn survival skills out in the wilderness. We teach the fun of exercise.

We also integrate therapy into our camp. Teens will attend group and individual sessions during their stay. We have learned that to get to the root of problems such as obesity, you have to dig deep. We target any underlying causes, such as anxiety and depression.
