It can be absolutely heartbreaking for a parent to watch their teenager get involved with alcohol or drugs. Unfortunately, addiction is a family disease, and while addicts think they are only hurting themselves, it does bring great harm to the family. Luckily, there are treatment options when a teenager falls victim to drugs and alcohol. Some teens may respond to weekly therapy or guidance counselors, but others may require some more intense intervention. Our long term drug treatment program in North America – USA at Rites of Passage NW is a unique and life-changing way for teens to get the treatment they need.
We effectively combine forms of different therapy for an all-around experience. While teens are expected to participate in individual and group therapies, Rites of Passage NW also offers equine therapy, wilderness therapy, and rites of passage therapy, bringing teens closer to nature. Our students do learn about accountability and responsibility while at one of our programs, and will volunteer in the community, to give back. Teens will also learn how to be part of a team, and good social skills to use with both parents and peers.
A teenager is always under a considerable amount of stress that adults often can’t see. While adults are under stress as well, teens have trouble coping with their distinct lack of life skills and experiences. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we like to put some more tools in their toolbox, so to speak.
