A parent always does the best they can when advising their teens about the dangers of alcohol. Some teens do go through an experimentation phase that they quickly pass through, others may not experiment and all, and some teens may get caught up in the throes of heavy drinking. A parent can easily feel helpless and not know where to turn when they realize that their son or daughter is drinking too much. Slightly different than drug use, the social acceptance of alcohol in mainstream society can make it difficult for teens to say no. When troubled teens require a more intensive program, such as a long term alcohol rehab program in the NW, Rites of Passage NW is here to help.
At our long term residential program, we incorporate several different types of therapies in order to encourage kids to succeed. While we do have conventional therapy such as group therapy and one-on-one counseling, we also offer unique therapy experiences, such as wilderness therapy, rites of passage therapy, and equine therapy. By getting back to nature, we have found that many teens addicted to alcohol can rediscover themselves and their worth.
Our students also learn about accountability and responsibility while at Rites of Passage NW. They are expected to volunteer in the community, and take part in daily chores. They will learn better interpersonal communication between their peers and their elders, and will learn how to be part of a team. After our program, they will know how to find gainful employment.
