As a parent, it is never easy to watch a child struggle with anything. But when it comes to alcohol and drug abuse, and issues like anger, anxiety, and depression, a parent may feel helpless. Not sure where to turn, parents often choose school counselors or force the child to go to weekly therapy. While those practices help some children, some troubled teens require a little bit of extra help. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we are here to provide that extra help. Our many camps for troubled youth in the NW have helped countless teenagers get back on the road to recovery and realize their dreams.
Our wilderness camps are slightly different than conventional therapy. While we do emphasize accountability and responsibility, and take part in group and one-on-one therapies, we also introduce incredible experiences such as rites of passage therapy and equine therapy. Many of our students have never been able to experience the beauty of nature through such close proximity.
We believe that unconventional methods can help a troubled child relearn their potential. Often, we must look into the past to envision a better future. Children and teenagers have a hard time with learning coping mechanism when they are under stress. Here at Rites of Passage, we try to add more tools to their toolbox to help them along the way.
