Bend Trek Program

Bend Trek Program

Rites of Passage Bend removes troubled youth from destructive urban environments and takes them to the stunning, rugged terrain of Bend, Oregon. Free of distractions, harmful influences and comfort zones, students can confront the bigger issues they are facing while participating in healthy, fun wilderness expeditions.

When everything else is stripped away, students can focus on what is most important to them and begin to figure out a better way to make decisions, to redirect behavior — to live.

Rites of Passage Bend is designed for adolescents age 10-17 and young adults age 18-28 with behavioral, emotional and substance abuse concerns. At the core of our trek programs is an effective outdoor curriculum that challenges students physically and mentally and nurtures self-reliance and self-respect.

As an alternative to the “boot camp” approach, our experiential wilderness programs are non-punitive and never utilize intimidation, isolation or fear. Trained professionals work intensely with students throughout their journey to create a supportive, positive environment that facilitates life-changing experiences. Students learn the tools to survive in nature — and thrive back at home.
