Wilderness Adventure Therapy in Washington

Wilderness Adventure Therapy in Washington

When a troubled teen is experiencing hardship, a parent may not know where to turn. A traditional therapy setting may not work for the teen who is in the grips of substance abuse, depression, or anxiety. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we have implemented different types of therapies to get troubled teens back on track. Our wilderness adventure therapy in Washington is a camp that troubled teens can attend to not only help them get back on the road to recovery, but to help them lead happier and more fulfilling lives, even during tough times.

Some of the therapies that our students experience while visiting one of our camps include equine therapy. Wilderness and hiking therapy, and rites of passage therapy. Here, teenagers will engage in activities such as journal writing, self-reflection, trust and accountability exercises, and experiencing nature in a way that they have never before. We also do engage in conventional therapy such as group therapy with peers and individual therapy, so teens have a safe place to get it all out.

We have found wilderness therapy to be effective because it is unique. Here, teens will learn how to become gainfully employed, interact well with others, and be a team player in work and social situations. When traditional therapies do not work, we highly recommend wilderness therapy as a means to help.
