Camp for Overweight Teenagers in the NW

Camp for Overweight Teenagers in the NW

Weight loss is a tough thing for anyone to achieve, especially teenagers. Surrounded by bullies and filled with self-doubt, teens may not know where to turn when they genuinely want to lose weight. They may have the motivation, but losing a large amount of weight can seem like a huge mountain to climb. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we have a camp for overweight teenagers in the NW to help teens not only take the wright off, but keep it off long after they have left our program.

Camp for Overweight Teenagers in the NW

Different from a traditional “fat camp,” we focus on holistic and more natural ways to lose weight. Our holistic diet may take some getting used to for teens, but it is well worth it when they see the results of looking better and feeling better. Teens will also learn how to meal plan and count calories accordingly, so they have tools for success after they leave us.

Teens may think of most exercise as boring. Here at Rites of Passage NW, we show teens that exercise can be fun and rewarding. Teens will learn survival skills while on one of our wilderness treks, or will participate in long, tough hikes to get the heart pumping. Very different from the boring gym, getting back to nature can really re-tune the body and mind.

Counseling is also a large part of our program. Teens will participate in individual and group therapy, to treat co-occurring disorders like anxiety and depression, but also get to the root of deeper issues.
